Liquidation Pallet Condition Glossary
Understand liquidation pallet condition terms: overstock, shelf-pulls, returns, salvage, manifests, and freight. Learn what to verify before you buy.
Overstock
Inventory held in excess of current retail demand or purchasing needs. Overstock describes why goods may be liquidated, not a guarantee that every item is new, sealed, complete, or free of damage. Ask for inspection details, packaging condition, counts, and available manifest information.
Shelf-Pulls
Products removed from retail shelves or a selling assortment. Handling, labels, seasonal demand, packaging, and missing components can vary. Ask how shelf-pulls are distinguished from customer returns in the specific listing.
Customer Returns and Open-Box
Customer-return goods may be unopened, open-box, used, incomplete, damaged, or untested. Open-box describes packaging, not working condition. Confirm accessories, parts, seals, testing status, and applicable terms.
Salvage
A seller-defined category commonly used for goods with damage, missing parts, defects, or substantial uncertainty. Ask what is known and estimate repair, parts, recycling, or disposal value conservatively.
Manifested and Unmanifested Lots
A manifested lot has an item list or other inventory detail; an unmanifested lot has limited or no item-level information. A manifest is not proof that every item is present or functional. Ask when it was prepared and which details were checked.
PST and MOS
Abbreviations vary across sellers and product categories. Ask the seller to define them in writing for the exact listing rather than inferring condition or value from the acronym.
LTL and Truckload Freight
LTL (less-than-truckload) freight combines shipments from different customers. A truckload generally reserves a larger portion or all of a trailer. Confirm load dimensions, weight, origin, destination charges, appointment needs, and unloading arrangements.
Retailer Names Are Not Condition Grades
Searches for Amazon liquidation pallets, Target liquidation pallets, or Walmart liquidation pallets describe buyer intent, not proof of direct sourcing, current availability, authenticity, or a retailer relationship. Ask for available documentation, condition information, seller identity, and any resale restrictions for the specific load.
